TRADITIONAL HOSPITALITY

The roots of ZUFLUCHT can be traced back to the 18th century. The original building of the ZUFLUCHT already served as an inn for carters.

1806 - 1841

THE ORIGIN OF THE ZUFLUCHT

In 1806 a hut was built on the Roßbühlstraße, which offered shelter to shepherds and forest workers.

In 1841 the hut’s name was changed to “Zuflucht”. … Over the years, injured or lost people have been rescued on the Zuflucht again and again.

A small mountain inn was built.

1900 - 1908

Conversion into a high-altitude hotel

Ski tourism began after 1900 and the small mountain inn was transformed into a high-altitude hotel.

In 1908 a new building with 19 rooms was built, and in 1912 the house received electricity.

1912 - 1980

DIE Zuflucht as a renowned high-altitude hotel

In 1912, as part of an extension, it became a “high-altitude hotel”. DIE ZUFLUCHT became the center of cultivated summer and winter visitors. Celebrities from aristocratic circles, feudal bourgeoisie and culture cavorted in the “Coffee salon of the ZUFLUCHT”.

1980

DIE ZUFLUCHT as a youth hostel

In 1980, after the death of the last hotelier, the house was converted into a youth hostel. The youth hostel was closed at the end of 2006 due to a sharp drop in the number of overnight stays.

2012

THE NEW ZUFLUCHT

In August 2012 the Zuflucht was acquired by the current owner Alois Ritter and converted into a 3 star superior hotel and reopened.
